Predictions

It is wonderful to know, there is a glimmer of hope in the fact that even in the USA, and no one can fool all of the people, all of the time.

The spin doctors of the Bush Administration, Karl Rove et al, have had their comeuppance finally, the American people have seen through their illusions and delusions.

But that is not enough, the change must be more than a cosmetic change, it must go further, this nation must begin to function again.

And nothing I have seen in the new conciliatory approach of the President, nothing in the protestations and rhetoric of the newly elected Democrats begins to convince me that together, this new administration, this new government, will be any less broken than the one that preceded it.

In fact, the evidence points to more of the same, that Americans will continue to be trapped in the past that it will continue to happen, over and over again.

The President after saying that the Secretary of Defense would not fired less than two weeks ago, unceremoniously and without apology, dumped that individual.

The Democrats are undecided about what to do about the war in Iraq, there continue to be some stay the course voices, while others, sixty four of them at least, opt to bring the troops home now.

The people have spoken, they have indicated their displeasure, with the way the war is going, but this is a widespread, popular, generic vote of dissent that is too diffused, that says nothing specific about what needs to be done, what needs to be done NOW.

So the President is interpreting this mandate in his own inimitable fashion, he hopes to snow the Democrats with his personality, with the mystique and authority attached to his office, while he continues to pursue his agenda.

He is saying that the vote was not against this hopelessly failed agenda, so he hopes to belatedly push through Congress legislation that curtails the freedoms enjoyed by the American people under the guise that he needs a law that says that the inalienable rights enshrined in the American Constitution do not apply to those he thinks are terrorists, and that is a large number of individuals, based on our experiences with this rogue President, it may be all those who disagree with his palpably nonsensical and completely unrealistic view of reality.

It is clear that the election results have not convinced him that he is wrong; that he was wrong to contrive justifications to attack Iraq; that he was wrong to ignore the advice of his generals in planning that naked act of aggression; that he was wrong in his assessment of how easy occupation of Iraq would be.

What events have exposed him to be, is completely unprincipled and opportunistic, an unthinking political animal committed solely to his own survival.

Even as he was campaigning without reservation or without even a hint of the perception of possible defeat, he was preparing a fallback position based on that inevitable consequence.

He is completely adrift and lost, he is bereft of a functional ideology, he has no concrete vision of what the world should be, and therefore has not invested the effort that would develop the wisdom that could create function, and all he has is his overweening and all consuming ambition.

He became President and became a puppet on the string of those whom he believed to be the strongest and most authoritative personalities in his Administration, those whose ideas and policies he erroneously believed would further his ambition - to be seen as a better man than his father was.

They have failed him, completely and irrevocably, but he has not seen the tragedy inherent in this approach but is busily seeking new mentors who conceivably could extricate him from the quagmire into which he has plunged the nation.

The death of Americans, and Iraqis, in this war are mere statistics, are mere meaningless statistics, just straws in the wind, in the hurricane of his ambition; to him, they are not real people, to be loved or hated, they are just nondescript elements of the reports he receives each day.

Yesterday, I was on my fifteen minute break, and in the lunchroom I witnessed on television in some program promoting Veteran’s Day, a profile of one of the numerous young people who has died in the Iraq War.

He was killed; it was reported, by an IED, a roadside bomb, during his second tour of duty in Iraq.

I was totally unprepared, mentally or emotionally, for this tragic series of images, and choked back a sob, which would have been totally inappropriate for the prosaic setting of a lunchroom in the middle of the morning.

Telling the truth has given me the objectivity to predict with some accuracy the course of current events, it has also made me prone to intense anguish about the suffering of human beings; from this perspective I saw that subsequent to the 911 attack that Americans would be severely tested as to their fundamental beliefs.

That, in the face of this threat, they would have to decide how civilized they really were, how democratic they really were, how attached to their values they really were, how much America was the land of the free and home of the brave, not in concept but in PRECEPT?

I have watched with growing dismay and with ever decreasing hope for the future as Americans have failed every test; because they have responded emotionally not intelligently to this challenge.

They have blindly and emotionally lashed out and attacked the people of Afghanistan and Iraq.

The most accurate description of their response; was one I heard from the patron of a barbershop, he said, “They kicked the ants nest spreading the ants.”

Americans driven by fear, lead by a media built President who is entirely without merit, have exacerbated the problem of terrorism out of all proportion, where it was serious they have made it gigantic, where it was critical, they have made it a precursor to the doom of human civilizations.

American social scientists have declaimed that the necessary prerequisite to the solution of any problem is its accurate description.

The problem of terrorism has its genesis in the naked aggression of the State of Israel against Arab peoples.

Historically, the Roman Empire reacted to the rebellion of Jews by destroying the Jewish State, as they had done with numerous other populations who they were unable to successfully colonize.

The difference was that Israel, was and is, the Land of the Bible, it was the birthplace of Christianity, the religion adopted by Europeans.

The dispersion of Jews around the world in the Diasporas prompted by the efforts of the Roman Empire to suppress the rebellions of the Jews in the first century of the modern period, as these hapless individuals fled from the carnage to end up in European nations, they became a persecuted, hated minority wherever they went, they became the people who killed Jesus Christ.

The irony is that it was the Roman Empire that killed gentle Jesus, but those who wrote the New Testament of the Bible opportunistically, since they were under the heel of Roman power, blame the death of Jesus on the Jews and exonerated the Romans from this crime.

This distortion of religious history, combined with the fact that Jews accumulated wealth, which they kept liquid because of their precarious status, that they might have to resume their flight at any moment; caused this minority to be perennial victims of pogroms and other brutal hate crimes down the centuries wherever they went, culminating in the Shoah, wherein the Nazi regime killed five million Jews.

I am never going to refer to this barbaric event as the Holocaust because, having resided in Israel I know the difference between seeing this phenomenon as an inevitable act of sacrifice to expiate the “sins” of those who were opportunistically convicted of killing Jesus - I see it as really was, another unsound, deranged component of the national insanity precipitated by Germany’s loss of the First World War that brought Hitler to power and loosed the most barbaric form of Absolutism on the world.

But enough of semantics, no matter how symbolic and important, Europeans persecuted the Jews beginning with the Roman Empire, and after the cessation of hostilities in the Second World War, the victorious European nations and their major ally, the USA, had the power to determine the shape of the political world of the future.

Conscience stricken and mighty, a very dangerous combination, after examining and rejecting several possible national sites for the Jews, many of them the pitiable refugees from the German Concentration Camps, the Allied Powers decided that there would a State of Israel, in Palestine.

The Arab Nations resisted precipitating a conflict that began in 1948, and which seems will never be resolved, which with the 911 attack, seems likely to spread to engulf the nations of the world and result in World War Three.

As the Munich Agreement at the end of World War I ensured that there would be a World War II, the establishment of the State of Israel at the end of that conflagration is leading humanity to next major conflagration, the past happening over, and over, and over, again.

Americans must see past the history written by those who were victorious in World War II; they must see past their guilt related to the atrocities committed in the German Concentration Camps; they must see past their affinity for the Jews because a Jew created the ideas that produced Christianity to come into contact with the reality that the support of the State of Israel, the unqualified support of the State of Israel by successive governments in the USA, has very little to do with the fact that the Jews were right, that they had or have a legitimate claim to any part of Palestine, and, much to do with the massive political contributions made by rich American Jews to both major political parties.

That this unqualified support for the State of Israel, especially in the modern era of American politics when those who accumulated the greatest war chest, those who received the largest political contributions, won the election because they could afford the most television commercials, that this issue, the unqualified support bought by American Jews was the single most important factor precipitating the 911 attack.

Until the problem of terrorism is described in this way, accurately, there will be no solution to the problem of terrorism, and, this scourge will be with us, that the war that began in Palestine will spread to engulf the world.

Has the truth any value, does freedom of expression have any value?

I suggest if freedom of expression had been used as the Founding Fathers of this great nation had intended, if it had been used to extinguish the repression that lames the intellects of agents of coercion based culture, Americans would have been able to connect the dots, there would have been no 911 attack and no need for the attack on Iraq.

I say further that the fact that the truth is told opportunistically is the source of the incipient chaos that seems likely to engulf human civilizations.

I speak as one who has been made free by the practice of the discipline of truth, who has accurately predicted the flow of events since the 911 attack with one significant mistake, I predicted that President Bush would not stand for reelection; I overestimated his commitment to doing the right thing.

I say again, as I said several years ago, that this nation must impeach its President, to save its soul, if there is to be any hope of creating a functioning democracy.

In suggesting this I am consciously using President Bush as a scapegoat for the American people, just as former Secretary of State Don Rumsfeld is being used as a scapegoat for the failure of attack on Iraq.

I have stated that President Bush is responsible for every war related death in Iraq, that one day he will face Judgment for his actions, a Judgment which will not be affected by the spin of Karl Rove et al, but in calling for his impeachment I am not judging him, I am only indicating what has to be done based on the existing facts, and I know to most this will seem a massive contradiction in terms.

Further, the USA must do the right thing in Iraq, they must restore Saddam Hussein to power, to convince the world that as a nation, it has relinquished the notion that might is right, that in the future its relations with other nations will be informed and dictated by the principles of simple justice.

This is the way to win the war on terror.

It is time for the change, the redemptive and healing transformation in social relations, that these relations be imbued not only in concept, but also in precept, with the eternal values of truth and justice.
